FOR NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS

A New Way to Support
Nonprofit Organizations

The Olive Branch Network uses blockchain technology to create a new way for people to support nonprofit organizations while participating in a financial network.

See How It Works ↓

What is the Olive Branch Network?

The Olive Branch Network is a blockchain-based protocol designed to create ongoing funding opportunities for nonprofit organizations.

Each participating nonprofit has its own pool within the protocol. Supporters choose which organization they want to support and participate through that nonprofit's pool.

As rewards are generated, a portion goes to the participant and a portion is automatically directed to the nonprofit organization.

A Simple Idea

You do not need to understand cryptocurrency to understand the basic model.

1

A Supporter

A person chooses to participate in the Olive Branch Network.

2

Chooses a Nonprofit

They select the nonprofit organization they want their participation to support.

3

Rewards Are Generated

The protocol distributes rewards according to rules built directly into its smart contracts.

4

Both Benefit

The participant receives rewards while a portion is directed to the nonprofit.

The simplest way to think about it:
people participate in the network, earn rewards, and help generate funding for an organization they care about at the same time.

Why does this use crypto?

Blockchain allows the rules of the Olive Branch Network to be built directly into software.

These programs are called smart contracts. They operate on a public blockchain and automatically follow predetermined rules.

Instead of the Olive Branch Network manually calculating and distributing every reward, the protocol itself can determine how rewards are distributed.

This makes the system more transparent, verifiable, and less dependent on any single organization controlling how it operates.

Transparent

Activity on the blockchain can be publicly verified.

Automatic

Smart contracts execute the protocol's rules.

Programmable

Funding mechanisms can be built directly into software.

Verifiable

Participants can independently verify activity on the network.

Every nonprofit pool begins the same way.

When a new nonprofit pool is created, it is seeded with 1,000,000 OBN.

This initial seed gives every nonprofit a starting position within the protocol and allows the pool to begin participating in the network's reward system.

Most importantly, the seed is standardized. A nonprofit cannot increase or decrease the size of its initial seeded position.

This protects the economics of the system by preventing organizations from changing their own starting position in an attempt to gain an advantage over other nonprofit pools.

Equal Starting Point

Each nonprofit pool begins with the same initial seed.

Fixed Position

The nonprofit cannot increase or decrease its seeded stake.

Protects the Economics

Keeping the seed fixed helps prevent nonprofits from gaming the protocol's economic structure.

A few words you may hear

The terminology may be unfamiliar. The ideas don't have to be.

Blockchain

A shared digital record that allows transactions and software activity to be publicly verified.

Smart Contract

Software on a blockchain that automatically follows predetermined rules.

OBN

The digital asset used within the Olive Branch Network protocol.

Staking

Depositing OBN into a nonprofit pool to participate in the protocol and generate rewards.

Wallet

A digital account used to hold, receive, and interact with blockchain assets.

On-Chain

Something recorded or executed directly on the blockchain, where it can be independently verified.

What should nonprofits understand?

Blockchain creates new possibilities, but organizations should also understand the responsibilities and risks that come with using digital assets.

Digital Asset Values Can Change

OBN is a digital asset. Its market value can increase or decrease, and participation does not guarantee a particular dollar amount of funding.

Wallet Security Matters

Blockchain wallets must be managed securely. Organizations should establish clear internal procedures for access and custody.

Transactions Are Different

Blockchain transactions are generally irreversible, making careful wallet management especially important.

This Is Emerging Technology

The Olive Branch Network uses relatively new financial and blockchain technology. Organizations should evaluate whether participation is appropriate for them.
